Since 1971, Family Health International (FHI) has been at the forefront of public health research, prevention, care and treatment in the developing world. FHI delivers services and conducts research in HIV/AIDS, other infectious diseases and reproductive health to improve the live and well-being of some of the world’s most vulnerable people.
FHl collaborates with national governments, local communities and leading research institutions, and is a key partner of public and private donors supporting improvements in global health. FHI works with numerous international aid agencies, private sector foundations, leading international organizations and multinational companies.
With funding from the United States and United Kingdom aid programs, the Global Fund and private foundations and corporations FHI is engaged in providing public health service and undertaking research in HIV/AIDS, TB and reproductive health in partnership with the Government of Nigeria. To strengthen our operation we are seeking qualified candidates for the following positions:
Responsibilities
• Under the supervision of the Zonal Manager, and with the support of the Director of Monitoring and Evaluation, design and implement monitoring and evaluation activities for the zonal office
• Work with other staff in the zonal office and with local implementing partners to ensure that state monitoring and evaluation activities are appropriate and meet donor and project M&E needs.
• Provide overall guidance to Zonal M & E on program/project monitoring and evaluation and line with us Government of Nigeria reporting requirement
• Provide support to the sites in the Zone, including interacting with site program managers, implementing agencies and local research group on needs.
• Ensure that locally employed M & E staff, consultants and FHI partners understand and can support donor and organizational M &E requirements.
• Work with local partners to develop their project monitoring and evaluation plans.
• Conduct routine monitoring visits to project sites.
• Ensure that the quality of program/project data and activities in the sites of international standard by supporting the development and implementation of appropriate mechanisms to ensure quality.
• Provide direct technical-assistance and capacity building in the design and implementation of program/project monitoring and enhanced evaluation components of activities in the communities served.
Minimum requirements
• Masters degree in public health or similar degree in monitoring and evaluation or related field (a Bachelor’s degree will be considered with additional experience).
• 3-5 years experience in monitoring and evaluation in reproductive health or HIV/AIDS programs in developing countries.
• Experience working with local partners. Including NGOs and CBOs, and knowledge of the local context are essential.
• Sensitivity to cultural differences and understanding of the political and ethical issue surrounding HIV infection.
• Ability to work in a multicultural setting and to develop and maintain compatibility among project staff, subcontractors and program recipients.
• Well developed written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to travel nationally a minimum of 50% of work time.
• Familiarity with USAID programs is preferred,
