UNIT: Scientific, Technical and Research Commission (STRC), of the African UNION:
SUPERVISOR: Senior Scientific Officer (Coordination)
DURATION: Six (6) months renewable
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. To assist in promoting the objectives of the programmes and joint projects within Member States.
2. To assist in the work of AU/STRC in promoting of research, development and application of appropriate and sustainable scientific and technological options for development of Africa.
3. To assist in preparation of documents and scientific papers and publications, organization of technical meetings, seminars, workshops & symposia.
4. To assist in follow-up actions on recommendations of meetings.
5. To assist in keeping and disseminating to Member States information, records and databases of major scientific and technical advances.
6. To prepare concept papers on vital Areas of policy.
7. To prepare proposals on policy issues.
8. To carry out any other duties this may be assigned from time to time.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
1. Masters degree (MSc) in Ethnobotany/lndigenous Knowledge or related field.
2. At least seven (7) years experience in policy work on traditional medicine and indigenous knowledge.
3. Potential candidate must have solid literary and computer skills.
4. The candidate should be between 32-40 years of age.
