Strategic Behavior Communication Officer at FHI

Since 1971, (FHI) has been at the forefront of public health research and intervention programs in the developing countries, In collaboration with national governments, local communities and leading research institutions, FHI delivers services and conducts research in HIV/AI DS, other infectious diseases and reproductive health to improve the lives and well-being of some of the world’s most vulnerable populations. In Nigeria, FHI is engaged in providing public health services and implementing programs in HIV/AIDS, TB, reproductive health, malaria, and health systems strengthening m partnership with the Government of Nigeria. To strengthen our operations in the country, we are seeking qualified candidates for the below position:

Position title: Strategic Behavior Officer (Communications and Knowledge Management Department)

Under the direction of the Senior Program Officer (SPO)/Senior Strategic Behavior   Advisor, the SBC Officer will coordinate ail Strategic Behavior and Corporate Communications (SB&CC) activities of the zonal office with particular emphasis on abstinence/be faithful/other prevention and corporate image making activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with the Senior Strategic Behavior Advisor (SBCA) to coordinate the development of SBC/CC//EC/ materials for the zonal program
  • Work closely with local implementing agencies to design and deliver communications interventions that facilitate behavior change amongst target groups across focal states
  • Provide technical assistance to sub-projects on their strategic behavior and corporate communications activities
  • Supervise the production of print and electronic materials with all FHI partners at the zonal level
  • Facilitate SBC and corporate -related capacity building activities at the zonal level by working with the SPO/SSBCA to coordinate appropriate SBC technical assistance for zonal program activities, NGOs and other zonal allies
  • Coordinate the development of communications materials and participate in their review and comment on print and electronic materials Inducing scripts, posters leaflets, and video/audio recordings
  • Work with relevant stakeholders in HIV/AIDS/STI/TB prevention, care, support and treatment by working towards increasing knowledge and creating demand for HIV counseling and testing, treatment services and products using different activities and strategies

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelors degree or higher diploma in health /promotion, mass , social work, public relations, , , broadcasting, English, journalism, languages and linguistics or behavioral science with demonstrated ability to manage SBC activities in a large, complex health-related project
  • Or general arts, public health, management, marketing, environmental, natural or social sciences with at least 3 years experience in health /promotion, public relations, journalism, , , broadcasting or marketing in a similar setting
  • At least 5 years post-NYSC work experience
  • A masters degree with 3 years experience will be considered
  • Professional membership of relevant professional bodies such as APCON. NIPR and NIM with be an advantage
