SuNMap is  DFID-funded five year programme to support the National Malaria control programme. It currently operates in six states, namely: Awka, Kano, Katsina, Lagos, Niger and Ogun with headquarters in Abuja. This #50m programme is managed by a consortium of three international organizations. Malaria Consortium UK, Health Partners International and GRID Consulting Ltd. It is personnel as well as other international and national partners.

The objective of SuNMap is to strengthen the delivery of the Nigeria’s National malaria control effort by providing technical support to improve the capacity of Malaria Control Programme at all levels. In doing this, the programme is working with stakeholders in the health and sector (public and non-public) as well as civil societies and partners from the commercial sector.

The programme has been in operation for two years and is now looking  to fill the position across its operating  location

Commercial Sector Manager:

 Location:  Lagos

 This senior position reports directly to the Programme Director. The job holder is responsible for identifying and assessing potential private sector partners with commercial interest in the distribution of malaria products. S/he will be responsible for liaising, engaging and increasing the number of commercial sectors partners, to expand retail sales, improve the distribution channels and create an affordable market for the purchase of malaria products, such as mosquito nets and anti-malarial drugs. S/he will employ a mixture of incentives and controls as required to maximize the project’s potential. Other responsibilities include:

  • Preparing work-plans of programme activities and budget for programme support to commercial sector;
  • Monitoring activities of the commercial sector partners including pricing  and sales;
  • Coordinating and monitors the activities and performance of commercial sector partners

 Qualifications:

  • An experienced business analyst with a degree in marketing, business or project management.
  • Should have a minimum of ten years post-graduate working experience within the commercial sector in West Africa.
  • Previous hands-on experience in managing commercial sector partners, development of contractual agreements and sound knowledge of health commodities distributors is required.
  • Additional skills include; strong marketing and business plan development, excellent communication, presentation and negotiation skills are very essential.

 Terms of Appointment

The appointment term will be a period of 3 years for each position, with an initial 6 months probationary period. The programme offers very competitive salary packages. Local terms and conditions will apply.
