A major International Organization managing a large programme to support the reform and strengthening of the system in Nigeria is recruiting qualified professional staff to fill the position of Voice and Accountability Officer in .

The programme supports the Federal and State Ministries of Health in transforming the health financing, management, and delivery of sustainable health services and represents a major development initiative that seeks to enhance the long-term impact of investments in the health sector by requiring alignment among projects, country ownership of development policies and strategies, and stronger accountability mechanisms.

Voice and Accountability Officer

Location: State

Provides support in the coordination of planning, implementation and monitoring of voice and accountability initiatives in State. These initiatives are likely to include: strengthening Facility Health Committees and other community-based structures for citizen involvement in the health sector; promoting civil society involvement in policy, strategy and budget development and monitoring, working in partnership with State Ministries of Health; development and strengthening of CSO coalitions championing reform around certain health issues; putting in place mechanisms for defining and enforcing patient entitlements. Qualification & Requirements include:

A in governance, , or a health-related field, plus at least six years of professional experience in the application of social development policy concepts such as voice, accountability, rights-based development, gender equity, social inclusion, and civil society strengthening.

Additional Requirements:

  • Excellent computer skills, including the use of Word, Excel and other basic software packages
  • Excellent and demonstrable written and spoken English;
  • Ability to work to deadlines;
  • Self-starter;
  • Team player, comfortable working in a multi-disciplinary team
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Willingness and ability to travel extensively in Nigeria
  • Ability to develop networks and manage relationships with key stakeholders.
