Strategic Behavior Communication Officer at FHI

Since 1971, Family International (FHI) has been at the forefront of research and intervention program in the developing countries. In collaboration with national governments, local communities and leading research institution FHI delivers services and conducts research in HIV/AIDS, other infectious diseases and reproductive to improve it lives and well-being of some of the world’s most vulnerable populations. In Nigeria, FHI is engaged in providing services and implementing programs in HIV/AIDS, TB, reproductive , malaria, and systems strengthening partnership with the Government of Nigeria. To strengthen our operations in the country, we are seeking qualified candidates to fill the post of:

 Strategic Behavior Communication Officer

 Location: Kano Zone

 Under the direction of the Senior Program Officer/Senior Strategic Behavior Communication Advisor, the SBC Officer will coordinate all strategic behaviour and corporate communications activities of the zonal program with particular emphasis on abstinence/be faithful/other prevention.

 Key Responsibilities

  • Manage corporate image making activities and guide the provision of technical assistance to sub-projects on SBC activities
  • Work with the Senior Strategic Behavior Communication Advisor to coordinate the development of SBC/CC/IEC/media materials for the zonal program
  • Work closely with local implementing agencies to design and deliver communications interventions that facilitate behavior change among target groups across the focal states
  • Provide technical assistance to sub-projects on their strategic behaviour and corporate communications activities and supervise the production of print and electronic media materials with all FHI partners at the zonal level
  • Facilitate SBC and CC-related capacity building activities at zonal levels by working with the SPO/SSBCA to coordinate appropriate SBC technical assistance for the zonal program activities, NGOs and other zonal allies
  • Coordinate the development of communications materials and participate in their review and comment on print and electronic media materials including scripts, posters, leaflets, video/audio recordings
  • Work with relevant stakeholders in HIV/AIDS/STI/TB prevention, care, support and treatment by working towards increasing knowledge and creating demand for HIV counseling and testing treatment services and products using different activities and strategies.

 Minimum Requirements

  • Candidate must possess Bachelors degree or higher diploma in communication, social work, , , media, broadcasting, , journalism, languages and linguistics or behavioral science
  • At least 5 years post- experience with demonstrated ability to manage SBC activities in a large, complex, -related project or general arts, , management, , environmental, natural or social sciences
  • At least 3 years experience in communication/promotion, , Journalism, , media, broadcasting in a similar setting
  • A masters degree with 3 years experience will be considered
  • Professional membership of relevant professional bodies such as APCON, NIPR and NIM will be an advantage.
