The USAID /Deliver Project is a USAID funded global technical assistance project managed by John Snow, Inc. and aimed at strengthening health and family planning supply chains in developing countries. The USAID/Deliver Project Nigeria office is seeking two state professionals based in Bauchi and Sokoto to fill the post of:
STATE LOGISTICS OFFICER – Bauchi and Sokoto
The USAID/Deliver Project has been tasked to assist the Government of Nigeria and select states in strengthening procurement and supply management (PSM) systems for reproductive health commodities. In addition, the project is also assisting the National TB and Leprosy Control Program (NTBLCP) and the National Malaria Control Program (NMCP) in strengthening PSM systems for TB, leprosy, and malaria commodities. The Project also works with State Ministries of Health in selected states to provide capacity
building and strengthening of the Contraceptives Logistics Management System (CLMS) through training and other on-going supportive and on the job training initiatives.
The State Logistics Officer will work under the guidance of, and report to, the Associate Director, Public Health, who is his/her supervisor.
Specific Tasks include:
- Conduct supportive supervision for state, LGA and Service Delivery Point Logistics Operators in partnership with State and Local Government counterparts.
- Liaise with the USAID/Deliver Project’s Associate Director, Public Health in Abuja to ensure high-quality and standardization of all training, advocacy, and data collection and reporting
- Advocate for good contraceptive logistics management practices and support with State, LGA, and Community stakeholders. These stakeholders include the government at all levels and NGOs.
- Collaborate with the Targeted States High impact Project (TSHIP) to ensure cooperative and integrated approach to improving RH services in the state
- Ensure that appropriate data are collected for project indicators on a timely basis
- Help write routine quarterly and annual reports for submission to program funders
- Contribute to identifying best practices and success stories for JSI Nigeria’s periodic logistics bulletin
- Work with Short-Term Technical Assistance (STTA) providers to provide required TA for activities and also facilitate transfer of skills for appropriate local staff
- Any other duties as assigned.
Skills/Knowledge Required:
- Applicants for this position should possess the following minimum qualifications:
- Candidate must possess First degree in public and/or community health, community development, or social sciences
- Three or more years experience in monitoring and evaluation
- Experience working in reproductive health and/or logistics with extensive field experience in Northern Nigeria
- Proven ability to work both as part of a team and independently
- Excellent written and verbal English language and Hausa language skills. Proficiency in Hausa is a prerequisite and should be state in the cover letter
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Microsoft Word and Excel.

This is a full-time position, one based in Bauchi and the other in Sokoto. Salary will be commensurate with experience and salary history
