SuNMap is  DFID-funded five year programme to support the National Malaria control programme. It currently operates in six states, namely: Awka, Kano, Katsina, Lagos, Niger and Ogun with headquarters in Abuja. This #50m programme is managed by a consortium of three international organizations. Malaria Consortium UK, Health Partners International and GRID Consulting Ltd. It is personnel as well as other international and national partners.

The objective of SuNMap is to strengthen the delivery of the Nigeria’s National malaria control effort by providing technical support to improve the capacity of Malaria Control Programme at all levels. In doing this, the programme is working with stakeholders in the health and sector (public and non-public) as well as civil societies and partners from the commercial sector.

The programme has been in operation for two years and is now looking  to fill the position across its operating  location

Senior Clinical Expert

 Location:  Abuja

This position will assist the Public Health Specialist in providing technical support to malaria control efforts with focus on the clinical aspects of preventive and curative interventions. S/he will also provide technical advisory support to the State teams on issues relating to good clinical practice on malaria case management. The job holder will prepare work-plans budget   on programme activities as regards preventive and curative components of malaria control at the National and State levels

Qualifications:

• A Health professional with a degree in medicine and a minimum  (10) ten years in clinical practice
• S/he must have a hands-on experience in management of tropical diseases with focus on malaria in any country within the tropics. 
• An extensive knowledge of practices of the Nigerian public sector is required with proven experience in training of health workers both at the public and private sectors
• Additional skills required include; presentation, writing and excellent computer skills.

 Terms of Appointment

The appointment term will be a period of 3 years for each position, with an initial 6 months probationary period. The programme offers very competitive salary packages. Local terms and conditions will apply.
