PROJECT DIRECTOR GHAIN

Location:   Abuja Country office

Position Purpose

The Project Director will have overall responsibility for the management of AF’s role in the GHAIN project and any affiliated projects. In particular, he/she will ensure that the work plans for these projects are implemented in a timely manner, within budget, to the satisfaction of clients, and to a high standard of technical quality. To achieve these goals, he/she will work closely with the Country Director and all members of the AF Nigeria senior management team.

The Project Director will also represent Axios in national forums and meetings with government and other stakeholders where these relate specifically or primarily to the GHAIN project and its affiliated projects (collectively described below as the GHAIN project).

Duties and Responsibilities

• Ensure the implementation of AF’s role in the GHAIN project in a timely manner, within budget to the satisfaction of clients and to a high standard of technical quality
• Act as budget holder for the GHAIN project
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with senior GHAIN project personnel in Abuja
• and Zonal offices, and ensure that AF performance-is meeting client needs at all levels Oversee and develop AF project management staff in Abuja and Zonal offices
• Work closely and collaboratively with the AF Technical Director to ensure that the GHAIN project is being implemented to a high standard of quality and that all of its needs for technical improvement are being met
• Work closely and collaboratively with the AF Supply Chain Management Operations to ensure that the need of the GHAIN project with regard to custom clearance, warehousing distribution and other shared services are being met in full and to a standard of high quality and efficiency.
• Work closely and coordinate financial matters with AF Associate Director of Finance and Administration
• Work closely and coordinate on training issues with AF Associate Director for Training
• Represent Axios in national forums and meetings with government and other stakeholders where these relate specifically or primarily to the GHAIN project.

Qualifications, Experience and Skills

• Candidate must possess Advanced degree in medicine, pharmacy, public health or related field
• Should have at least 15 years professional experience in managing public health programs
• Proven public health program management experience a developing country context
• Team, administrative and financial management experience
• Intimate knowledge of the health system in Nigeria
• Deep understanding of the political economy of health care development
• Strong verbal and written communication skill
• Results-driven, Excellent management and leadership skills
• Computer literacy, Fluency in English and Experience in HIV/AIDS
• Understanding of USG programs, their traditional partners and funding structures
• Excellent relationship with the government of Nigeria.
