Position: Policy Analyst ( and )

Essential Functions

The Policy Analyst will work closely with Senior Policy and other members of their state team in State on a MCH/PF/RH project to ensure that the policy development and implementation process is multidirectional, incorporating evidence and experience from the states as well as translating national level initiatives into action at the local level.

Specifically, the Policy Analyst will conduct assessments, coordinate and facilities policy related advocacy events and meetings, analyze quantitative data and use computer based quantitative models to prepare advocacy briefs and presentations, communicate and disseminate research findings to relevant counterparts, document successful MCH/FP/RH models with technical and clinical at TSHIP, and coordinate exchange visits among Nigerian states.

Person Specification

  • in fields relevant to health policy in developing countries
  • At least four years experience in FP/RH and/or MCH program implementation with expertise in strategy and policy development
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in political environments and establish effective relationships with government and leaders and advocates
  • Proven experience in manipulating quantitative data, including data analysis and data presentation
  • Demonstrated ability to synthesize quantitative and qualitative data and communicate it to a variety of stakeholders
  • Experience conducting and synthesizing key informant interviews
  • Sound understanding of reproductive health and child survival health issues in Northern Nigeria
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal, writing and oral presentation skills
  • Hausa language skills strongly
  • Experience working in Northern Nigeria strongly preferred
