Christian Health Association of Nigeria (CHAN)’s Nigeria indigenous capacity Building (NICaB) Project, is advertising for short term position:

The NICaB project made possible by the American people through the president’s Programme for Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief and the us Agency for International Development (USAID) is implemented by CHAN in partnership with Management Sciences for Health (MSH). NICAB expands comprehensive HIV and TB programs in six states across Nigeria and builds the capacity of collaborating faith-based health facilities and community based organizations to respond to the HIV epidemic.

Nurse/Midwife

Location: Sokoto

The Nurse/Midwife has primary responsibility for ensuring the provision of nursing and midwifery services at the centre and its satellite sites. The Nurse/Midwife will ensure that clients of the centre receive adequate good quality nursing care. S/He ensures adequate clinical records of nursing services and provides support for the Centre’s nursing activities, including monitoring, technical assistance, in-house training, and opportunities for linkages for the strengthening of community participation and collaboration with CBOs.

Qualifications:

• General Nursing and Midwifery certificates. Bachelor’s degree in nursing or public health or other training will be an advantage.
• NYSC Certificate if applicable
• Full registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council
• Professional with local background and/or familiarity with the communities served by the Centre be served is preferred.
• Knowledge and experience with community-based health care and TBAs will be added advantage.
• Fluency or near-fluency in Hausa and/or Fulfulde will be an advantage.
• Ability to speak and write coherently and effectively in English.
• Basic computer ability, including competence in word processing and spreadsheets will be added advantage.
• Ability to travel to districts and rural areas on a regular basis as well as to other states when necessary.

NOTE:

There are no relocation allowances available for this position and the estimated period of performance for this position is 9 months, depending on availability of funds.
