The United Nations Populations Fund (UNFPA), the Leading UN organizations in Reproduce Health and Populations and Development, is recruiting personnel for this post in the Zonal Office at the State

(UMUAHIA)

Post level: ICS 07

Type of Contract: Service Contract

Duty Post: Umuahia

Duration: One Year, with possible renewal subject to performance

1. Under the direct supervision of the Zonal Head, the will support the design, planning and management of UNFPA’s country programme by providing and managing data inputs, providing logistical support, monitoring project implementation and following up on recommendations.

2. He/she will apply established systems and procedures and assists in the creation of substantive knowledge by compiling, synthesizing and analyzing information relevant to population and development, reproductive health and gender issues.

3. He/she is expected to be instrumental in facilitating programme/project implementation using and developing appropriate mechanisms and systems and ensuring compliance with established procedures.

4. He/She is expected to maintain collaborative relationships with all programme and project staff as j well as government counterparts. ;

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Participate m the identification and formulation of the country programme and component projects by compiling and analyzing information in the subject areas of UNFPA assistance to the Government, drafts project documents and work plans and prepares tables and statistical data for the Zonal Office.

2. Evaluate project and programme activities, establishing and implementing mechanisms to systematically assess the achievement of results of the Zonal Office.

3. Conduct field monitoring visits participate in review meetings and evaluation missions and prepare regular inputs to status and progress reports

4. Analyze basic factors affecting the achievements of results , recommend corrective actions and follow up on recommendations for the Zonal Office

5. Provide support for the programme implementation by organizing review meetings, reviewing quarterly project work plans and proposing corrective actions, as necessary for the Zonal Office.

6. In coordination with national counterparts and project personnel, guide routine implementation of assigned projects, delivery of projects inputs; ensure participation of national counterparts in training activities and study tours.

7. Guide project personnel on national execution and programme policies and procedures

8. Coordinate and prepare annual travel plan and field monitoring visits for zonal office

9. Contribute to the to the creation and sharing of knowledge by synthesizing and documenting findings and lessons learned success stories and best practices, strategies and approaches of the zonal office

10. Drafting relevant materials for dissemination

11. Support the advocacy and resource mobilization strategy of the Zonal compiling and synthesizing relevant background materials for use in discussions and public events

12. Establish and maintain network of donor and public information contacts and provide assistance in organizing and conducting donor meetings and public information events

13. Perform any other duties that may be assigned from time to time by the Zonal Team Leader.

Qualification and Experience:

The ideal candidate should:

1. Possess a bachelor’s degree in health, population, demography, and/or other related social

Science field.

2. Possess at least 10 years of relevant experience in the public or private sector

3. Have a strong capability to communicate clearly and concisely in both oral and written English

4. Have the ability to work under pressure.

5. Have excellent communication and human relation skills,

6. Be proficient in current office software applications is mandatory

Because the nature of work of all the above cited posts are programme focused, involving other groups and various timelines and activities, related skills of good time management, managing deadlines and good team relationships are essential. Knowledge of the UN system is desirable for this post.
