OBJECTIVE

To provide technical support in the areas of supplemental immunization routine immunization and integrated disease surveillance and Response (IDRS)

Duties and Responsibilities

Under the overall supervision of the WHO Country Representative and the direct guidance of the EPI Focal Point, the incumbent will perform the following duties

1. Provide technical support for polio eradication activities in Nigeria

2. Provide technical expertise in effective planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of supplemental immunization activities (e.g. measles, etc) to improve quality

3. Provide technical expertise in planning, implementation and monitoring of routine immunization activities to increase coverage

4. Provide technical expertise in planning and monitoring of integrated disease surveillance and response activities

5. Provide guidance and training on planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation, using NIDs, IPDs, routine immunization and surveillance data to drive programme decisions

6. Participate with other partners in identifying and advocating to influential community leaders to ensure programme ownership and community participation

7. Timely compilation and submission of periodic and incidental program progress reports

8. Perform other duties as may be assigned by supervisor

Qualifications & Experience

1. University Degree in a health related field of study, e.g. Pharmacy, Nursing, e.t.c.

2. Post graduate degree in , preferably in Epidemiology, or other related fields

3. At least four years experience in EPI/PEI activities in similar roles in an organization concerned with management

4. Good knowledge of MS Office Packages, including working knowledge of health data management packages like EPI INFO, etc.

Additional Desirable Qualification

1. Ability to acquire sound knowledge of WHO rules, regulations and procedure

2. Ability to work effectively with colleagues at National, State and LGA levels

3. Ability to work as a team and establish and maintain good relationship with people at various levels and of different Nationalities

4. Experience in working with UN system, or in a bilateral or multilateral international Organization in the Country

5. Knowledge of other WHO official Languages (French/Portuguese) will be an added advantage
