AIDS Prevention Initiative in Nigeria (APIN) is a non-governmental donor-funded organization dedicated to the prevention, treatment, care and support of HIV/AIDS in Nigeria. Since 2001, we have worked closely with key stakeholders, including government agencies, universities, other non-governmental organisations and donors to fight the HIV/Aids scourge.
APIN’s goal is not just to reduce the rate of growth of HIV epidemic in Nigeria, but also to ultimately reverse its course. Our prevention, treatment, care and support activities span forty –two sites in ten states of the Federation and are coordinated from our offices in Abuja, Lagos and Ibadan
As part of the key strategic initiatives of our transition, we are seeking qualified and competent persons to fill the position below:
Position: Monitoring & Evaluation Officer (Lagos)
Report to the Monitoring & Evaluation Coordinator, the job holder will provide support to the implementation of monitoring and evaluation systems, including obtaining data from the program sites, evaluating performance vis- -vis set targets as well as reporting on achievements and progress made
Job Tasks
v Work closely with the Monitoring & Evaluation Coordinator to set up M&E systems and monitor program activities at the program sites
v Contribute to continuous program improvement through the collection, analysis, reporting and use of output data
v Assist in collating monthly reports and maintain a database of same, providing feedbacks to the sites
v Disseminate program output data to program officers, donors and the Government on demand
v Assist in conducting data quality audit at the program sites to ensure compliance with monitoring and evaluation guidelines
v Contribute to the development of appropriate data collection tools and procedures for ail monitoring and reporting needs
v Support the implementation of operational research
v Contribute to the monitoring of the progress of the program towards achieving targets
v Work with the Monitoring & Evaluation Coordinator, program officers, site monitoring and evaluation committees to ensure that program reports and data meet acceptable quality standards and promote their utilization by relevant end users
v Work with the Monitoring & Evaluation Coordinator and other program officers to identify, develop and implement relevant evaluation projects for the program
v Identify gaps in monitoring and evaluation capacity at the sites and recommend appropriate training to the Monitoring & Evaluation Coordinator
v Support program sites in the monitoring and reporting of patient outcomes
Qualification and Experience
v An MBBS and MPH or any other relevant post-graduate degree and four years experience in the monitoring and evaluation of health programs, especially HIV/AIDS programs
Competencies
v Report writing and oral/written communication skills
v Working knowledge of program monitoring and evaluation
v Basic knowledge of HIV/AIDS prevention and treatment
v Basic knowledge of statistics & statistical methods
v Basic knowledge of program management
v Basic knowledge of current HIV/AIDS guidelines and standards with respect to monitoring and evaluation
v Ability to organize and coordinate training programmes
