The Nigerian Urban Reproductive Health initiative (NURHI) seeks applications from qualified individuals to contribute to improved maternal health and reduced child mortality through increased contraceptive prevalence rates in selected urban areas in Nigeria .

Position: Monitoring and Evaluation Advisor
The Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Advisor will help plan, design, coordinate and supervise all research and evaluation activities for the NURHI project. The M&E Advisor will work closely with project researchers, advisors and senior management to coordinate field data collection and research activities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
- Participate in the design and implementation of formative research, the monitoring systems and impact evaluation for the project;
- Oversee the data collection and M&E activities from all project field sites and research staff;
- Build the capacity of in-country partners and agencies for research and evaluation;
- Document and disseminate project research findings to project partners and donors;
- Assist in the development of data collection and necessary data collection tools and training to support the research, monitoring and evaluation of NURHI project activities;
- Assist with the development and monitoring of research related contracts and consultancies;
- Perform qualitative and quantitative analyses of data collection during formative studies and operations research activities;
- Maintain a database to track performance indicators by entering data collected through the monitoring system and conducting verification checks to ensure the accuracy of these data;
- Coordinate and compile reports from the field offices that track NURHI activities progress against performance indicators; and perform other related duties as necessary.
Qualifications/Education and/or Experience
- Flexibility to travel throughout Nigeria and internationally as needed for the project
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, leadership and management skills
- Good problem solving and independent thinking skills.
- Proficiency using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Power point), electronic databases (Epi info, etc) and a statistical software package (Stata, SPSS, SAS)
- Masters degree in public health or social Sciences
- Five to ten years experience in implementing and managing research, data bases, and monitoring and evaluation of public health projects (preferably in reproductive health and services delivery)
