A major international organization managing a large programme to support the reform and strengthening of the health care systems in Nigeria is recruiting qualifies professional staff to fill position based in Lagos. The programme supports the Federal and State Ministries of Health in transforming the health financing, management and delivery of sustainable health services, and represents a major development initiative that seeks to enhance the development policies and strategies and stronger accountability mechanisms

- Significant prior experience working in programme funded by international donors, strongly preferable in the health sector
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, capacity-building, training, organization and management skills
- Ability to work and deliver under intense pressure
- Dedicated team player with demonstrated interpersonal, result-oriented, and decision making skills.
- Ability and willingness to travel frequently to programme sites throughout the State and for Country
THE HEALTH MANAGEMENT INFORMATION SYSTEMS (HMIS) OFFICER (LAGOS)
- Will engage efforts to develop, implement, install and operate the Health Management Information System in Lagos State.
- Also s/he will manage the enhancement and continuation of the development of the current HMIS system and the IT plan.
- S/he will act as a catalysts in development and implementation of the sustainability plan to institute the programmes in the state to support Lagos State Ministry of Health
- The Job Holder will collaborate with other DFID SLPs and other donor programmes in the State to support Lagos State SMoH to develop, track and monitor indicators related to the Lagos State Health Sector and program and project performance
- Also, will support the State Ministry of Health by providing input into the review of monthly, quarterly and annual reports, process date and other information from projects for decision making
- S/he will provide technical assistance to key staff of the Ministry of Health to develop and operationalize the States data bank and HMIS
- S/he will liaise with other line ministries in the state, NGOs, DFID, and other SLPs then support the implementation of the State M&E strategy and efficient management of the HMIS to ensure data accuracy, security and legal regulatory compliance with national and international regulations and laws.
- S/he evaluate the technical components of contracts with consultants, technical personnel and vendors of services and products related to HMIS
Qualification Requirements
- Master’s degree (minimum) in Public Health or Management.
- At least 6 years of relevant work experience in Public Health and management and in the use of data for management.
- Experience with Health data management preferred
- Understanding of the structure and function of the public health system in Nigeria
- Knowledge and past experience of working in an international development setting
- Professional fluency in oral and written English and working knowledge of Yoruba
