In collaboration with national governments, local communities and leading research institutions, FHI delivers services and conducts research in HIV/AIDS, other infectious diseases and reproductive health to improve the lives and well-being of some of the world’s most vulnerable populations. In Nigeria, FHI is engaged in providing public health services and implementing programs in HIV/AIDS, TB, reproductive health, malaria, and health systems strengthening in partnership with the Government of Nigeria. Associate Director, Monitoring and Evaluation

The Associate Director, Monitoring and Evaluation will provide leadership support to the Director of Monitoring and Evaluation in all monitoring and evaluation activities for Family Health International in Nigeria.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Director of Monitoring and Evaluation in overall management and provision of technical inputs to improve and facilitate the delivery of sound technical assistance in monitoring and evaluation, including to the Government of Nigeria and United States Government upon request
- Collaborate closely with other major stakeholders such as the United Nations family or the Nigerian Country Coordinating Mechanism in the implementation and improvement of the national monitoring and evaluation in Nigeria
- Support the Director of Monitoring and Evaluation in managing the FHI M&E Department and in defining strategies, goals working plan, and monitoring their implementation
- Directly supervise the FHI zonal office M&E teams, and facilitate monitor and improve the support of the FHI country office M&E team to performance in all their local M&E teams, assisting them in maintaining high standards of performance in all their local M&E activities
- Take a leadership role in all quality assurance/quality improvement processes within FHI Nigeria and among our implementing agencies
- Strengthen capacity in M&E of the FHI M&E team, and of FHI technical staff in general
- Stay alert of the latest best practices in M&E to ensure up-to-date service delivery of the FHI M&E team
- Foster FHI’s relationships with Key counterparts at the national level, especially from the National Action Committee on AIDS and of the National AIDS and STI Control Program, to facilitate synergies and guarantee harmony between FHI and Government of Nigeria M&E activities
- Upon request provide general technical assistance (and guidance if relevant) in M&E to the Government of Nigeria, United States Government counterparts and other key stakeholders
- Assist the Government of Nigeria and United States Government in data management analysis and quality management related work
- Supervise and support data management, analysis and quality management related initiatives undertaken by M&E officers in the country office
- Provide guidance in the development and/or adaptation of M&E tools, in the
- monitoring of their day-to-day use, and in their modification
- Provide sound technical leadership in quality management system (standard operating procedures, process flowcharts, forms) in the FHI data flow (processes and procedures for data flow, collecting forms), and for the design, update and use of the FHI databases
- Review, validate, share and present regular FHI M&E reports to be used by various stakeholders (health workers in service delivery points, public health practitioners in GON or USG, technical officers and management in FHI)
- Represent FHI in national and international events
- Lead, in close collaboration with the FHI management, the FHI scientific publication effort.
Minimum Requirement
- MBBS/MD/PHD or similar degree in monitoring and evaluation with a minimum of 5-7 years experience in monitoring and evaluation in large HIV/AIDS programs at the national or international level.
- Sound knowledge of statistics and public health
- Experience in working with local partners, including host government NGOs and CBOs
- Knowledge of the Nigerian local context is an asset, as well as familiarity with USAID and PEPFAR programs.
