Since 1971. Family Heath International (FHI) has been at the forefront of public health research and intervention programs in the developing countries. In collaboration with the national governments, local communities and leading research institutions, FHI delivers services and conducts research in HIV/AIDS, other infectious disease and reproductive health to improve the lives and well-being of some of the world’s most vulnerable populations. In Nigeria, FHI is engaged in providing public health services and implementing programs in HIV/AIDS, TB, reproductive health, malaria, and health systems strengthening in partnership with the Government of Nigeria. To strengthen our operations in the country, we are seeking qualified candidates for the position below:
Position Title: Senior Monitoring and Evaluation Officer

The Zonal Senior Monitoring and Evaluation Officer, under the supervision of the Zonal Project Manager, and with technical oversight from the Director of Monitor and Evaluation will be responsible for the design and implementation of monitoring and evaluation for the zonal office.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide leadership to the zonal-level M&E staff and M&E program and overall guidance on program/project monitoring and evaluation and on US Government and Government of Nigeria reporting requirements
- Provide support to sites In the zone, including Interacting with site program managers, implementing agencies and local research groups on needs
- Ensure that locally employed monitoring and evaluation staff, consultants and FHI partners understand and can support program M&E requirements
- Work with local partners in developing their project monitoring and evaluation plans and support the correct implementation and use of routine data collection tools
- Ensure that data is used to highlight important programmatic gaps and coordinate with facility management and other departments in addressing these gaps
- Ensure that the quality of program/project monitoring and enhanced evaluation in the sites is of international standard and quality by supporting the development and implementation of appropriate mechanisms to ensure quality
- Build the capacity of local partners in project monitoring and evaluation
- With program staff and local partners, use program/project monitoring data to modify existing programs and design new ones
- Provide technical support in evaluation research (including sampling strategies, analysis and presentation of data) to the local research groups working on the Secure the Future project
- Remain informed of current issues regarding monitoring and evaluation of programmes in the HIV/AIDS/STI fields by reviewing current literature and being alert to any implication f such research for project and program activities
Minimum Requirements
- MBBS and an MPH or similar degree in monitoring and evaluation related field
- 3-5 years experience in monitoring and evaluation in productive health or HIV/AIDs program in developing countries
- Experience working on the development and implementation of patience level health management information system
- Sound knowledge of statistics and epidemiology
- Experience working with local partners, including local NGOs and CBOs and knowledge of the local context
- Familiarity with USAID programmes will be an advantage
