Learning-LGA Manager at MNCH

The Maternal and Neo-natal Child Health (MNCH) initiative is a 4 year aid programme which operates alongside the PRRINN programme that focuses on strengthening routine immunization in Northern Nigeria. The MNCH programme aims to address the unacceptable high rates of maternal, child and newborn morbidity and mortality in some Northern Nigerian States. The programme is funded by the Norwegian government in partnership with DFID. It is operated by a consortium of three organizations, namely: Health Partners International UK, Save the Children, UK and GRID Consulting Nigeria.

The joint programme collaborates with stakeholders in the health sector as well as civil societies to provide quantifiable improvements to the primary health care systems in Northern Nigeria.

PRRINN/MNCH is managed by a team of internationally recruited professionals. Its programme activities are carried out in , , and with coordination from the programme’s head office in Kano. The programme has commenced but seeks to recruit professionals to design an research platform aimed towards optimizing the key health systems functions in its operating states:

Learning-LGA Manager (x4):

The Learning-LGA Manager will be based in each of the Programme operating States. S/he will be responsible for the overall oversight of the LLGA and specifically responsible for assessing innovations from the health/medical perspective. Other specific functions include:

i)             Develop research agenda in collaboration with State research team,

ii)    Provide technical support to the research team on the design and execution of research in the LLGA:

iii)   Provide technical leadership for the establishment of institutional arrangements for operation research:

iv)   Develop mechanisms for sustaining OR activities in collaboration with the Health Systems Research Manager:

v)    Facilitate management and collection of M&E data including impact assessment within the LLGA

Requirements:

Candidates must hold a medical degree and masters in with a minimum of 3 years relevant work experience in research in Nigeria. S/he must have previous research skills, a sound knowledge in epidemiology, social sciences and demography/population sciences. Proven evidence of scientific dissertation or publication on a topic relating to health systems, health policy or is essential.

Terms of Employment,-

The appointments will be for a contract term of up to 4 years, with a 6 months probationary period. The programme officers competitive salary package local terms and conditions are applicable
