The Nigerian Urban Reproductive Health initiative (NURHI) seeks applications from qualified individuals to contribute to improved maternal health and reduced child mortality through increased contraceptive prevalence rates in selected urban areas in Nigeria.

NURHI is looking for dynamic, hardworking individuals to join our team for the below position in Abuja.

Position: Demand/Advocacy/Behavior Change Officer

The Demand /Advocacy/ BCC officer will provide support to the advocacy and behavior change (BCC) activities for the Project in the select field with an emphasis on working with city teams and partners, The Demand/Advocacy/ BCC Officer will work under the guidance of the NUHRI  Demand Generation Advisor and Advocacy Advisor,

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

  • Provide assistance and support to program staff in all aspects of BCC development, implementation and evaluation;
  • Collaborate with NURHI partners and other key stakeholders involved In reproductive health and family planning;
  • Provide assistance in the development and implementation of the regional mass media activities and material for the project;
  • Assist in writing reports and documenting success stories relating to the project interventions;
  • Assist to organize press conferences and PR events when needed;
  • Assist  in compiling and disseminating press releases and  briefing reports to the media;
  • Assist in organizing and managing events;
  • Assist in developing and implementing advocacy plans; and ]
  • Perform other related duties as necessary.

Qualifications/Education and/or Experience

  • Strong organizational, interpersonal and management skills
  • Good problem solving and independent thinking skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Power point)
  • University or equivalent degree in , social sciences, or preferred
  • 3-5 years experience working in health programs, mass media or BCC projects
  • Experience working for a NGO or international donor supported agency/project
