The Positive Living Programme, made possible by the American people through the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR), and the US Agency for International Development (USAID) is implemented by the Center for Development and Population Activities (CEDPA) and its partners. CEDPA is recruiting for the position below:
Position: Senior Project Accountant
- This position reports to the Director of Finance and Administration. The Abuja based Senior Project Accountant will provide bookkeeping and accounting support services to the Positive Living Project.
Essential Duties:
- Using Quick Books Accounting Software, review and produce monthly expense reports
- Assist in production and review of financial required reports e.g. SF269
- Assist with routine accounting functions; including but not limited to; accounts receivable, preparation of journal entries, financial reports and schedules and record keeping as directed by Director of Finance and Administration (DFA)
- Coordinate field officers to review field office financial reports and prepare monthly expenditure reports.
- Assist with annual audit procedures and response to audit inquires as needed
- Cross train to reconcile bank accounts monthly
- Cross train to review travel expense reports.
- Cross train to ensure accounting, travel and procurement policies are followed.
- Train and assist CEDPA staff as necessary with financial forms and procedures
- Assist project management team in preparation of budgets and budget forecast
- Monitor and review project expenditures against approved budget.
- Preparation of monthly fund request and follow up with local banks
- Review and monitoring of Sub-grantees financial activities.
- Preparation of staff monthly payroll and payroll related schedules.
- Liaising with HQ on project financial reports and budget variances
- Provide financial up-date to project management team for decision making
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Required Qualifications
- B.Sc./HND in accounting or other related field required, qualified ACA.
- Minimum 2-3 years experience in USAID, CDC or other federally-funded grants/contracts administration. Knowledge of federal compliance rules, regulations and standards associated with federal funds and non-profit accounting (A-11-.A-122.A-133and22CFR226) a plus.
- Proficient computer/software skills, including a command Quick Books. MS Word and Excel.
