In Nigeria, FHI is engaged in public health services and implementing programs in HIV/AIDS, TB, reproductive health, malaria, and health system strengthening in partnership with the Government of Nigeria. To strengthen our operations in the country, we are seeking qualified candidates to fill the post of:
Senior Finance and Administration Officer

Location: Cross River Zone
The Senior Finance and Administration Officer will be responsible for all accounting/finance and administrative functions in the zonal offices and ensure compliance with the contractual requirements of FHI and its donors.
Specific Job Responsibilities
- Work with the Human Resource Unit to provide human resource support to the zonal office
- Provide support with problem resolution on zonal office cash accounts bank reconciliations. MTX (or other accounting software), resolution of audited questioned costs, reconciliation and follow-up of all asset accounts such as travel advances and financial closeouts of implementing, agencies at the state level.
- Work closely with program and country office finance staff to ensure necessary flow of funds to the zonal office and to sub-recipients.
- Ensure accurate keeping of all books of account for the zonal office including maintenance of the checking account equipment and supply registers and all accounting principles
- Carry out implementing agency audits periodically under the direction of the country office Contracts and Grants Unit
- Prepare requested financial reports, including financial status of subproject account activities
- Oversee contractual issues for the zonal office, including leases and the procurement process
- Supervise state or zonal office staff in financial management and administrative functions and work with country office human resources
- Assist with recruitment interview logistics and new hire orientation and in coordinating local performance evaluations.
- Manage and maintain the state/zonal office vehicle fleet and ensure that necessary travel arrangements are made.
- Provide support to and coordinate FHI/Nigeria activities within USAID and PEPFAR guidelines and regulations
Minimum Requirements
- Candidate must possess Bachelors degree in accounting, finance or business administration, or its recognized equivalent
- Should have at least 5-7 years cognate experience
- Master’s degree with 3-5 years experience will be considered
- Excellent analytical, interpersonal and computer (Excel and spreadsheet) skills
- Possession of CPA, ACA or recognized equivalent
- Experience in managing financial records of donor-funded organizations, and familiarity with donor and local contractual procedures
- A relevant higher degree and professional qualification will enhance applicant’s chances
- Familiarity with donor-funded programs and Nigerian non-governmental organizations will be an advantage.
