Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates from any part of the world for the post of the below in Gas Engineering. The objectives of setting up the Chair are as follows:
PTDF Professorial Chairman
- Encourage and develop interdisciplinary teaching and research in gas technology
- Interface between industry, government and the University fro cooperation in research.
- Develop sound gas engineering programmes at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels
- Contribute to developing a Gas Policy in Nigeria
The selected Candidate shall establish a multi-disciplinary team that will conduct research leading to the establishment of Center of Excellence in Gas Engineering at the University of Port Harcourt.
Qualifications and Experiences
Interested applicants must be Professors of Petroleum and/or Gas Engineering or related disciplines with at least two (2) years professorial teaching and research in Petroleum or Gas Engineering and administrative experience in a reputable University Candidate(s) must have many publications in form of Books.
Monographs, chapters in Books and Referred Journal Articles Published locally and internationally,
Salary
A competitive salary shall be offered which is equivalent to Professional rank in Nigeria Universities and a top up, plus other attractive enhancement/incentives.
Conditions of Service
These are as applicable in Federal republic service and as appropriate in the Nigerian University System. In addition, the appointment shall be for a three-year period in the first instance and renewable for another two years based on performance.
2. The selected Candidate shall research on the following areas
- “Quantification/characterization of the Gas Resources in Nigeria”
- “Evaluation of Gas Storage Potentials of Reservoirs in the Niger Delta”
- “Utilization o! Nigerian Gas for the Manufacture of Chemicals”
3 The selected Candidate shall in addition to research, teach relevant courses in Petroleum or Gas Engineering in both undergraduate and graduate levels. The candidate shall also organize an annual lecture on gas-related topics and carry out duties as may be assigned by the University.
