IITA, with Headquarters at Ibadan, is an International Agricultural Research Centre in the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR), which is an association of about 50 countries, international and regional organizations, and private foundations. IITA seeks to increase agricultural production in a sustainable way in order to improve the nutritional status and well-being of people in tropical Sub-Saharan Africa.
The International Institute of Tropical Agriculture seeks suitable candidates for this position the Institute’s Headquarters in Ibadan.
Position:
HOUSING & CONSTRUCTION SUPERINTENDENT (2-year renewable contract) (IBADAN)
Duties
Successful candidate will among other things:
- Carry out building maintenance inspections and record the status;
- Review daily workmen productivity schedules and take corrective action where necessary;
- Prepare tenders for minor construction works;
- Supervise outside contractors;
- Supervise in-house work teams;
- Prepare sketches and cost estimates for minor building alterations;
- Ensure good housekeeping;
- Ensure safety compliance of all work team;
- Carry out any other assigned jobs by the Supervisors
Qualification and Experience
- B.Sc/HND Civil Engineering or any other construction related discipline plus 10 years relevant working experience of which 5 years should be in a supervisory position.
- Candidates must have a sound analytical mind, a good knowledge of computer and must be willing to put in extra hours.
- Candidate must be committed, resourceful, honest and must possess very outstanding leadership qualities
