Since 1971, (FHI) has been at the forefront of public health research and intervention programs in the developing countries. In collaboration with national governments, local communities and leading , FHI delivers services and conducts research in HIV/AIDS, other infectious diseases and reproductive health to improve the lives and well-being of some of the world’s most vulnerable populations. In Nigeria, FHI is engaged in providing public health services and undertaking research in HIV/AIDS, TB and reproductive health, in partnership with the Government of Nigeria. To strengthen our operations in the country, we are seeking qualified candidates to fill the post of:

FACILITIES DEVELOPMENT MAINTENANCE ENGINEER (Health Policy and Systems Management Department) No. required (11)

The Facilities Development Maintenance Engineer will provide technical expertise and assistance in handling, maintenance, repair and upgrading of equipment and utilities and training to ensure cost-effective and efficient operations at FHI-supported facilities

Location:  , Bauchi, , Edo, FCT, Kano, Lagos, , Taraba, and Osun Zonal Offices

Job Responsibilities

  • Oversee the  upkeep, rehabilitation, upgrade and maintenance of FHI supported facilities including the physical building structure and all mechanical, electrical and related equipment in accordance with preventive maintenance programs
  • Assign and verify completion of all repairs, replacements, renovations of FHI-supported facilities and evaluate quality of work.
  • Inform the Zonal Manager and  Associate Director infrastructure Development and Maintenance regularly regarding the specific and overall condition of structures and related systems offering cost-effective proposals for maintenance
  • Ensure repairs and maintenance problems are logged and resolved with minimal downtime and that quality of service is assured
  • Design and develop an effective plan for proper servicing and maintenance of facilities and equipment at FHI-supported facilities
  • Develop and monitor appropriate operating procedures to safeguard equipment from physical damage and unauthorized usage.
  • Prepare reports checklists, worksheets, logs and SOPs for equipment maintenance records
  • Coordinate and monitor activities of vendors to ensure proper maintenance
  • Keep adequate records of all equipment supplied to facilities

Minimum Requirements

  • B.Sc or in mechanical/civil engineering with minimum of 3 years working experience in facilities operation management.
  • Knowledge of preventive maintenance, calibration, equipment operations, and troubleshooting methodology.
  • Knowledge of health programs in developing countries
  • Experience in hospital facility operations is an advantage
