Our Client is a newly established agency of the Rivers State Government which is saddled with the responsibility of providing an enabling environment for infrastructural development and planning, investment promotion and housing projects, amongst others in Port Harcourt, the capital of Rivers State.

SAMUELSON has been engaged by the Agency to identify proactive, development – oriented and skilled individuals, who are at home with conceptualizing, designing and implementing development initiatives. These individuals must be team players, high achievers and exceptional professionals with the requisite qualifications and track record to fill a number of top positions:

DIRECTOR OF ENGINEERING SERVICES (Ref: DES1)

Qualifications / Skills:

• A University Degree in Civil Engineering or related field, with a minimum of
• second class division
• Any of the following qualifications: COREN, NSE etc
• Proficiency in the use of engineering software
• Knowledge of codes, ordinances and land use regulations and principles Knowledge of principles and practices of city planning
• Knowledge of problems resulting from growth of urban, suburban and rural areas.
• Ability to review engineering reports, construction plans and other technical documents for the purpose of analyzing and determining appropriate courses of action.

Requirement for this position is as follow:

• Must be Rivers State indigenes
• Must have a minimum of 13 years post – graduation experience
• Must have strong verbal, written communication & inter-sectorial skills
• A postgraduate degree and/ or professional qualifications will be a distinct advantage
• Must be between 37 & 50 years of age

Responsibilities/ Scope of Work

• Oversees and coordinates the work of the Engineering Services Division
• Prepares, manages and administers the Engineering Services Division budget
• Prepares specifications and bids for engineering projects
• Provides technical direction and support to staff engineer and other Divisions
• Attends technical meetings
• Works with detailed diagrams, plans and drawings
• Develops and negotiates project contracts
• Liaises closely with other professionals, including structural engineers, builders, architects and surveyors, and In-house project teams.
