Our client is a heavy chemical industry located in the south-south part of Nigeria, it believes that the safety and well-being of employees and other stakeholders is a priority. It is therefore seeking to complement its current pool of talents by employing in Occupational Health and safety Coordinator.
POSITION: BUSINESS UNIT HEALTH & SAFETY COORDINATOR.
To develop and maintain business unit health and safety policies and management systems in line with the divisional and corporate goals
Job Specification/Main Task:
- Drive business unit health and safety management system implementation.
- Provide advice and support to Business Unit Managers, Site managers and Site Health & Safety Coordinators.
- Administer business unit health and safety reporting system and monitor business unit health and safety reporting system and monitor business unit health and safety performance
- Participate in business unit health and safety reporting system and monitor business unit health and safety performance.
- Participate in business unit health and safety committee, and management committee when dealing with health and safety topic.
- Propose annual business unit health and safety objective(s) and improvement plan.
- Coordinate health and safety activities common to all sites and mange the network of site Health & safety officers and coordinators.
- Authorities business unit capital expenditure, significant and relevant revenue expenditure plans relating to health and safety.
- Ensure that every accident in the BU is fully investigated, closed out, and suitably communication
- Follow and communicate the evolution of local health and safety legislation
- Propose business unit health and safety communication contents and media
- Drive the development of health and safety skills within the business unit.
Talent Specification/Requirements:
Qualification:
Candidate must possess First degree/equivalent in Sciences, Engineering or Safety management
Should be Membership of health & Safety related professional institute
Certification in Health & Safety Management practice
Experience:
- At least 5 years professional experience in Health & Safety
- Experience in heavy chemical industries/oil and gas
Others:
- Strong oral/written communication and presentation skills in English Language
- Ability to work with multi-disciplined and multi – cultural teams
