The Institution
Lagos State University [LASU] was established in 1983 by the Enabling Law of Lagos State University, for the advancement of learning and establishment of academic excellence. The University caters for a large student population, enrolled in full-time AND part-time programmes at the Diploma. Undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Today, Lagos State University operates a multi-campus system with Four (4) fully owned campuses, having its main campus at Ojo (along the Badagry Expressway), AND other campuses at Epe, Ikeja AND Surulere, as well as Nine (9) External /Affiliated campuses at Agege. Anthony Village. Babagry Festac Town Ikorodu, Ikoyi, Isolo, Jibowu, AND Lekki. Lagos State University is reputed for high standards, which it has maintained over the years in its Law programme and the solid foundation being laid in the Medical programme. The University has also over the years, maintained a tradition of excellent in various discipline in Arts, Education, Engineering, Science, Social Science AND Management Sciences. A School of Transport has also been established recently.
LIBRARIAN
The University Librarian is a Principal Officer of the University responsible to the
Vice Chancellor for the administration of the University Library and coordination of ALL Library services in the University, (in the Main Library and in Libraries across ALL campuses of the University).
The University Librarian is a member of the University .Management Committee.
As an Academic Officer, the University Librarian provides both academic and administrative leadership to staff in the University Library.
Qualifications
Candidates for the position of University Librarian, Lagos State University Should possess:
- A good (Honours) Degree with minimum higher Degree of Master in Library Science, with Fifteen (15) Years of cognate experience.
- Must possess several scholarly publications, administration and demonstrate ability to provide academic leadership.
Experience
- Computer knowledge is essential
- Possession of Doctorate Degree will be an added advantage
Tenure
The appointment of University Librarian is for a Term of Four (4) years respectively with eligibility for reappointment for a term of four (4) years only.
Remuneration
The remuneration of the University Librarian, Lagos State University includes Basic Salary of HATISS, 15 Housing facility and other benefits and allowances, that apply to the University in Nigerian Public University as may be approved by the Governing Council, Lagos State University.
