A major international organization managing a large programme to support the reform and strengthening of the health care system in Nigeria is recruiting qualified professional staff to fill position based in Abuja and Lagos. The programme supports the federal and State Ministries of Health in transforming the health financing, management, and delivery of sustainable health services, and represents a major development initiative that seeking to enhance the long-term impact of investment in the health sector by requiring alignment among projects, country ownership of development policies and strategies, and stronger accountability mechanisms.
Media Producer
Location: (Abuja)
Will provide support to the National communications Advisor on the design and implementation of the project’s communication strategies and programs. S/he will also assist in providing technical assistance to state Behavior Change Communication Officers on the design and implementation of state specific behavior change communication and strategy. S/he will provide technical lead on media production, direct communication and community participation. S/he will lead in the administration of the Production Unit, coordinating and supervising all commissioned radio. TV and community based productions both creatively and financially. Ensure that sufficient research is conducted on themes and messages, in collaboration with the Public Health Communications Researcher. Research, write, translate, edit, or adapt stories or programme material, ensuring that the content is consistent with behavior change strategies. Assist in the design and implementation of needs assessments to identify media stations to be invited to benefit from the programme. Provide practical mentoring for media partners in basic journalism skills, including interviewing, live reporting, and editorial guidelines. Ensure that research findings and audience feedback are used to refine and improve programme outputs. In addition, s/he will work with State Health Financing Officer to strengthen the State’s Community Based Health Insurance Scheme.
Qualification Requirements:
- Bachelors Degree (minimum) or Masters Degree (desirable), in Journalism, Communications, or other relevant field.
- Four years of experience as a media producer for a development organization relevant to the target area.
- Good keyboard and basic computer skills, and the ability to acquire the skills to operate technical equipment
