We are an International gas transporting company, set up to build, own and operate onshore and offshore pipelines that will transport natural gas from Nigeria to other West African countries and are looking for a focused, energetic, result-oriented and qualified individual to fill the position of:
External Relations Coordinator – Nigeria

Key Job Responsibilities
Provide counsel and guidance, and recommend protocol, procedures and actions to facilitate effective interactions with Government departments, Ministries and agencies on the interpretation and effective implementation of Company’s various agreements and regulations. Monitors the implementation of Early Warning systems and Community Surveillance System for timely anti conflict action and ensure coordination and monitoring of Company’s Nigeria Community Development Programmes.
Specific responsibilities include:
- Implement the Company’s communications policy develop plans and manage stakeholder engagement programmes for internal and external stakeholders in Nigeria, to support operations and enhance reputation.
- Promote and proactively manage the image of the company to various segments of the public, government agencies, state and local government groups, and the media
- Facilitate interaction and collaboration with regulatory authorities such as Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Fire Services
- Supervise consultants and contractors, and implement community Development Programmes
- Maintain links with government and public officials and provide information on government plans/policies in the energy sector relating to the operations of the company
- Promote an enabling environment that will enhance operational effectiveness of the company without disruptions to the host communities.
- Initiate strategies to ensure the implementation of an Early Warning System and Community Pipeline Surveillance System to provide timely identification of potential conflicts, and monitoring of the pipeline in local communities along the Pipeline.
- Incorporate all Health and Environmental Safety System (HESS) requirements into all the activities of the Company and entrench HESS initiatives across functions.
Qualifications experience
Candidate must possess a good first degree in the social sciences, journalism or mass communication from a reputable university.
Relevant post-graduate degree(s) or extensive work experience in a similar position will be an advantage.
Minimum of five (5) years’ post-qualification experience two (2) of which must be in similar position.
Demonstrable ability to communicate clearly and succinctly, in both spoken and written forms.
Job related competencies required
- Experience in dealing with community leaders and knowledge of socio-cultural issues and challenges in the host communities.
- Good knowledge of protocols and procedures required to ensure effective governmental interactions
- Proven ability in the dynamics of interacting positively with officials in government department agencies and bodies
- Experience in the implementation of social performance plans and the monitoring of community development projects
- Demonstrated familiarity with media relations
- Excellent interpersonal, negotiating and conflict resolution skills
- Knowledge of Health, safety and Environment management
- Proficiency in the use of computer applications.
