ZONAL LOGISTICS ASSISTANT
GRADE: GS 05
DUTY STATION: MINNA
ORGANIZATIONAL UNIT: WHO REPRESENTATIVE OFFICE, NIGERIA
DURATION: 1 YEARS, FIXED-TERM, POSITION NO.302533

OBJECTIVE
To provide logistics support to the Zonal Office of the WHO Country Office.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Under the general supervision of the Administrative Officer and the day-to-day guidance of the Zonal Coordinator, and in close consultation with the Operations Officer, the incumbent is expected to perform the following duties
- Provide logistic support for the overall WHO operations the zone;
- Maintain an up-to-date inventor of all WHO properties and equipment within the zone. Prepares monthly
- inventory report with indicative analysis, giving recommendations on need for replacement and/or purchase of additional equipment . Assists with arrangements for repair or disposal of non-functioning equipment;
- Evaluate requests for focal purchase of equipment and liaises with suppliers to prepare quotation bids for supplies, services and equipment; analyzes received Quotations, advise on the best quotas and coordinate with administrative unit for payment, Ensure delivery of high quality supplies and equipment from vendors and timely on-forwarding to appropriate locations;
- Manage and monitor stocks and movement of office consumables and equipment within the zone:
- Monitor operational activities within the zone and report on vehicles, staff movements and security-related
- matters, Regularly assesses logistics and operational needs of. zone and make recommendations for
- implementation.
- Organize and conduct in-house training for staff on operations-related topics
- Oversee the operations of the zonal radio room
- Perform any other dukes as may be assigned by the supervisor
- Qualification & Experience
- Completion of Secondary education, preferably supplemented with a technical diploma or University degree in Engineering or Business Administration Formal training in logistics management would be an added advantage;
Qualification & Experience

- Engineering or Business Administration. Formal training in Logistics management would be and added advantage
- At least 4 years experience in logistics management
- Must be computer literate and familiar with MS Windows applications for word and data processing and e-mail applications
Additional Desirable qualifications
- Proficiency in typing and good knowledge of modern office procedures
- Ability to acquire sound of WHO rules, and regulations and procedures. Demonstrated ability for team-work
- Experience in working with UN/international organization/multicultural environment. Good interpersonal relations
- Knowledge of the other WHO official languages (French/Portuguese) will be an added advantage
