Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist at UNICEF

UNICEF Nigeria seeks the services of an experience Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist who will be responsible for the planning development and implementation of the integrated monitoring and evaluation strategies in support of the country programme.

Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist

The successful candidate will be expected to carry out the following:

DUTIES

  1. Organize programme mid-term review annual review previews, meetings. Analyze and evaluate corrective actions, when necessary. Provide technical advice to programme staff, government officials and other counterparts on planning and management of integrate monitoring and evaluation.
  1. Design date collection methodologies and research related to programme interventions; (Sentinel Site Survey, RAP, KAP, etc). Conducts research and data analysis. Assist in the introduction of new approaches and methods in project monitoring and evaluation.
  1. Assess trends and measure outcomes relating to achieving NPA goals, in context of country programme. Maintain a data bank of social indicators on the situation of women and children and assist partners to do the same.
  1. Contribute towards the preparation of the Situation Analysis. Prepares Country programme integrated monitoring, evaluation and research plans.
  1. Assist Government authorities to plan and organize M&E training programmes. Identifies training needs for the purpose of capacity building in monitoring and evaluation. Liaises with the regional M&E Officer and the Evaluation and Research Office at UNICEF Headquarters in this regard.
  1. Prepare the Monitoring and Evaluation sectoral documents for the country program Document (CPC) and Plans of operations, plans of Action, Country Programme Summary Sheet (CPSS).
  1. Participate in the development of the Monitoring and Evaluation section’s work plan; ensure compliance to specific assigned objectives. Provides guidance and support to staff.
  2. Prepare the programme status reports required for management, board, donors, budget reviews, programme analysis, annual reports, etc.
  1. Collaborate with the Information/Communication staff in the selection and dissemination of statistical result from the situation Analysis to national and local levels.
  1. Ensure the accurate and timely input of programme information in the computerized programme system, and issuance of status reports for monitoring and evaluation purposes.

Minimum Qualification and Competencies:

  • Advanced university degree in Social Science, Demography, development Planning, Statistics or a related technical field.
  • Five years progressively responsible professional work experience in programme monitoring and evaluation. Practical experience in data generation and management.
  • Fluency in English and other UN language is required, knowledge of the local working language of the duty station is desirable
  • Strong analytical, quantitative and qualitative research skills.
  • Knowledge of computer management skills, including internet navigation and various office applications. Specialized training in statistics.
  • Planning & monitoring skills and good judgment
  • Ability to organize and implementation training.
  • Good analytical, negotiating and communications skills.
  • Networking skills and teamwork abilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a multi-cultural environment, and establish harmonious and effective working relationship both within and outside the organization.
