A Chamber of Commerce with membership drawn from Nigerian business people and their counterparts from a certain European country requires the services of the below position
Position: Executive Secretary - reports to the Council, through the Chairman.
General Description:
- He/She is responsible for the daily operations of the Chamber.
Qualification:
- He/she must possess strong verbal and written communication skills, demonstrated executive and managerial skills; with a high level of initiative.
- Must have proven leadership ability and must be able to work independently and meet deadlines in a multi task environment.
- He/she must also be proficient in computer skills and display a high degree of tact and diplomacy.
- The person should be a university graduate in Business, Management, Communication studies or Social Sciences or a related field.
- A post graduate experience of 8 – 10 years is also required.
Responsibilities and Duties include but not only to:
- Plan, recommend and implement programmes and activities which will promote the growth of the Chamber.
- Review, evaluate and carry out existing policies and also develop and recommend new policies and long range operating plans.
- Develop and reduce newsletters, membership promotions and brochures for the Chamber as appropriate.
- Organize fund raising activities and form committees as necessary.
- Notify officials and members of relevant Chamber activities.
- Coordinate elections of Council members and make recommendations to fill vacant Council positions.
- Inform Press of Chamber events and worthy news to promote the Chamber.
- Keep an open line of communication with Council and Chamber members.
- Maintain statistical and accounting records and prepare an annual budget.
- Assist the Council in setting short and long term goals for the Chamber.
- Conduct studies and research for the Council as requested, including promotions, membership drives and advertising.
- Plan, recommend and implement programs to promote growth of the Chamber and review existing programs for value.
- Prepare agenda for Council at least one week prior to the meeting and all committee meetings. Provide material necessary to conduct the meetings.
- Keep in touch with members through provision of useful information.
- Other duties as assigned.
