The Targeted State High Impact Project (TSHIP) is a five-year program focused on the improvement of health systems and the management of health systems for higher quality Maternal, Neonatal and Child Health, Family Planning, and Reproductive Health service delivery in Nigeria. TSHIP is funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and implemented by JSI Research and Training Institute, Inc. (JSI)

TSHIP is looking for two full-time employees to fill the position below. One employee will be based in Bauchi and the other in Sokoto.

ADMINISTRATION ASSISTANT

The Administrative Assistant will provide a wide range of administrative and logistic services to the project staff and visiting consultants. S/he will assist in setting up and managing the project office. She/he will also be responsible for managing the project inventory, maintaining project records, preparing inventory reports, and providing administrative assistance to project staff. She/he will report to the Assistant Finance Specialist.

The Administrative Assistant responsibilities include (but not limited to):

  • Ensuring effective operation and smooth functioning of project office
  • Providing administrative and logistical support to project staff and consultants including arranging staff and consultant travel logistics
  • Establishing and maintaining effective office information management systems
  • Organizing and managing special events, such as meetings and workshops;
  • Assisting staff with preparing official correspondence, photocopying, and carrying out other administrative tasks, as required.
  • Maintaining project equipment and managing project inventory
  • Ensuring adequate supply of office supplies; and
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Candidate must possess High School diploma required (university degree preferred) and at least three to five years experience in office management and administration, preferably with international projects.

Experience in organizing and managing meeting and travel logistics

Experience in managing inventory

Excellent computer skills, including a working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications

Solid judgment, critical thinking, ability to solve problems and multitask

English language proficiency

Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work as part of  team; and

Experience in the respective region  (Bauchi or Sokoto)
