Shell Exploration and Production Company is currently seeking a Seisemic Data Management for their Houston, Texas location.
Responsibilities:
- Works closely with customers on a regular basis on a variety of seismic projects
- Basic seismic data management responsibilities including the following:
- Seismic project creation
- Data loading/unloading
- Data quality checks
- Data manipulation
- Minor seismic data processing: scaling, balancing
· This role could include additional responsibilities:
- Prestack data loading and velocity manipulation
- Supervising contract staff
- Leading and training staff in using seismic data applications
- Mentoring staff in seismic data management / minor seismic data processing
- Works closely with other team members, outside parties and vendors in an inclusive environment that respects and encourages diversity
o No set budgets, however while filling the role of seismic data manager there will be a need for associated cost control efforts
o This role could involve supervising contract staff. Will work as part of a larger team to deliver seismic data
o The role involves working very closely with the Exploration and Development customers
o A failure in the accuracy or integrity of seismic data can lead to millions of dollars of exposure – access delays to the information alone can lead to lost efficiencies and decisions made without complete data. Seismic Data Management is a critical component of the exploration process
- Periodically working under tight deadlines to deliver seismic data to the customer
- Working on a number of seismic data projects at the same time
- Sharing knowledge and experiences, adopting ideas of others, keeping abreast of new developments, recognizing technology gaps
- Ensuring HSE compliance and taking personal accountability for the individual contributions towards the implementation of the team and corporate HSE plans
Requirements:
- Must have legal authorization to work in the U.S. on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer
- Strong math and science skills and knowledge of seismic data and seismic data formats
- Strong Unix/Linux skills
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Knowledge of seismic navigation/coordinate mapping
- Knowledge of MS Office products
- Knowledge of exploration and production and previous seismic data management experience
Preferred:
- >6 years of seismic data management/seismic processing experience
- Knowledge of seismic data processing – preferably land processing
- Knowledge of Landmark Seisworks/OW applications
- Knowledge of format conversion of seismic data
- Knowledge of GIS
Other Requirements:
- Willing to be a team player who can work well with others and is capable of working independently
- Willing to work over-time and/or weekends on occasion in support of urgent operational needs
- Willing to support Shell’s policy of a drug-free work environment
Educational Requirements:
- High school diploma or G.E.D.
- Preferred: Associate or BA/BS degree in Physics, Math, or related degree program
