Description

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Provides safety and quality-control (QC) support activities on assigned project(s) and/or functional area(s) to ensure that the safety plan reflects corporate policy and complies with the prevailing safety requirements and to ensure that products or services provided are in accordance with client and Parsons quality requirements. Reports to the Safety and Quality Manager. Regularly interacts with representatives from a variety of functional groups, including program management, design/engineering, purchasing, construction, and other personnel.

Work to be performed on the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, MD, or other government facilities in the surrounding area. Parsons’ contract includes facilities engineering, construction and technical services. The Safety Specialist is part of the Safety/Quality Control team. This team member will also have to interact with various other Parsons’ team members as well as the government client.

Responsibilities include the following:

* Inspects job sites to detect and correct safety hazards
* Identifies and reports safety and quality issues or trends based on data from a variety of sources
* Maintains and updates safety and quality records and project files
* Provides support to management for interface on quality activities with internal or external organizations (customers, suppliers, subcontractors, and others)
* Monitors contractors’ compliance with approved Safety and Quality Control plans
* Prepares QA/QC manuals, plans, and/or procedures
* Supports several projects simultaneously
* Performs other responsibilities associated with this position

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

· 4-year degree in Construction, Engineering, Industrial Hygiene or related field and 0-3 years experience in the field of Safety and/or Quality Control

· Requires a working knowledge of Federal and state health and safety regulations and reports procedures

· Must be familiar with OSHA guidelines and regulations

· Good communication and interpersonal skills
