Chevron Energy Technology Company is accepting online applications for the position of Property Estimation R&D Programmer, located in Houston, Texas.

Overview:

The Property Estimation R&D Programmer will be part of a team responsible for conducting research and developing software and workflows for estimating reservoir properties (e.g. lithology, fluid content, porosity, reservoir thickness) from seismic data. The selected candidate is expected to develop software applications targeted for reservoir property estimation.
Position Details:     Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:

# Develop software applications targeted for reservoir property estimation.
# Work closely with the seismic processing and reservoir property estimation services and R&D teams to create integrated, interpretative solutions and workflows for estimating reservoir properties from seismic data.
# Mentor, support and teach other earth scientists in using the software and workflows that are developed.
# Provide independent and collaborative research and software development leading to robust production applications for estimating reservoir properties from seismic.
# Develop extensions and enhancements to current proprietary and vendor technology to improve accuracy, workflows, computational efficiencies and interactivity.
# Provide effective transfer of technology to service teams for use on business unit data (rapid deployment and application of technology) which requires development of workflows, documentation, workshops, mentoring and training of users.

Required Qualifications:

# A minimum of a Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Geophysics, Physics, Applied Mathematics or Engineering.
# A minimum of 3 years professional experience with design/development of geophysical and geological software.
# Experienced in developing extensions and enhancements to current technology (scope, frame, prototype, commercialize, deploy, support, maintain and renew technology)
# Software development experience with 2-D and 3-D graphics, and GUI.
# Experience with object-oriented analysis, design, and programming.
# Demonstrated proficiency programming in C++, OpenGL, Qt, and Java
# Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to effectively communicate R&D results with peers, users, customers, and management.
# Experience in managing projects: planning, directing, coordinating, and executing.

Preferred Qualifications:

# A Ph.D. Degree in Computer Science, Geophysics, Physics, Applied Mathematics or Engineering.
