Central Finance provides a range of professional services, advice and products to Shell companies on a global basis. This support covers everything from management and financial accounting, consultancy and business controls through to mergers & acquisitions, and treasury operations
Risk and (R&I) provides expert advice to Shell’s Global Businesses and their operating companies in evaluating and managing risks. We manage third party providers in a wide range of -related fields, and provide support to Shell’s own captive company – Solen Versicherungen AG – to ensure that the Group’s Companies (GICs) offer high quality risk management products to Group companies. In Downstream, we refine and deliver products to our customers in a profitable and sustainable way.

We’re currently looking to recruit a Risk and to join us in . You’ll join a team that is part of a group of risk management professionals based in , Houston, The Hague,Switzerland, Melbourne and Calgary. This group operates on a virtual basis with frequent communication between various teams and individual members.

Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Risk and Business Manager for Downstream, you’ll have direct responsibility for providing risk management, advice and services for the Global Downstream Businesses and their constituent operating companies in Europe. Your specific accountabilities will include:
  • Providing direction and support to country focal points, brokers and fronters in preparation of underwriting information prior to submission to the GICs for their direct, commercial market or reinsurance participation. This covers policy placements, endorsements and cancellations
  • Providing direction and support to country focal points, finance, operations, country chairs, general counsels and project staff re. advice and counsel on GIC and commercial market placed policy wordings, limits, deductibles, other risk management and concerns
  • Providing direction and support in the implementation and operation of the proper allocation of risk in contracts through the Contractual Allocation of Risk Manual (CARM)
  • Periodic involvement in and support to construction projects through advice and counsel on risk and matters
  • Periodic involvement in and support to merger, acquisition and divestment deals that impact on Downstream’s operating companies in the country portfolio.

Requirements:

With a degree in a relevant discipline and experience of risk management, , commerce, engineering or legal disciplines, you’ll possess a good understanding of risk management and practices.
We’ll expect you to have or be attaining formal qualifications appropriate to the industry, and a sound understanding of accounting and finance competencies related to the financial implications of services provided by R&I.

You’ll also possess excellent communication and negotiation skills, and be able to meet deadlines and maintain a high standard of punctuality and time management.
