Contracting and Procurement (CP) employs 2,500 people world-wide and is responsible for procuring all non-hydrocarbon goods and services from third parties on behalf of its businesses. Shell spends millions of dollars on goods and services every day, 365 days a year.
EP Projects (EPT-P) is one of the Global Technical Partners under the new EP Operating Model, with offices in , Houston, New Orleans and Aberdeen. It manages a portfolio of multi-million dollar projects across the globe, ranging from facility upgrades and subsea developments to total floating and major onshore development projects. Providing a full range of engineering, project management and new technology application skills and services, it frames, plans and executes these projects onshore, on the shelf and in deep water.
Its Contracting and Procurement division sets out to develop and implement world class standards in terms of contracts, processes and to support the execution of capital contracts. In doing so, it drives innovation in project spend categories, making the most of Shell’s global leverage; leads Shell’s global understanding of external markets and heads the supplier relationship management programme. It also works closely with EPT technical and project teams to help them access critical manpower resources and specialist services; managing the capital contracting skill-pool with the regions and the training and development programme for the CP discipline globally.
Shell spends around $2bn per annum through contracts to procure linepipes and process piping. The and process piping team provides enterprise-wide category management support across a wide range of businesses including Downstream, Gas and Power, Global Solution and EP regions.

Responsibilities:

This role offers a unique opportunity to be at the heart of the execution of the newly defined category strategy, with true enterprise-wide, cross-business responsibility. You’ll play a leading role in the implementation of centrally-driven demand management for the category, while providing intelligence specific to the and process piping and maintaining the Total Cost of Ownership category model.
The global for and process piping is split in different product segments with very different characteristics. With specific segments are increasingly tight driving up prices and lead times, a detailed understanding of these segments and how they behave differently is key to a successful approach.
The position will involve:
  • Providing continuous intelligence and analysis regarding key suppliers, competitors, and their strategies
  • Top-down performance management through the regular tracking of results
  • Supporting modelling methodologies to understand the impact of business decisions
  • Developing, implementing and managing a robust database for and process piping demand at local, regional and global levels
  • Assisting in the development of appropriate strategies
  • Establishing good relationship and communications lines with businesses and project teams across the Group

Delivering value by creating and maintaining a cost-modelling tool for the category that covers the full life-cycle cost and provides technical and commercial sourcing alternatives.

Requirements:

Educated to degree level, you must have proven experience as an working within virtual teams in a multi-national environment. We’ll also be looking for:
  • The capacity to apply Supply Chain Management tools and technology to develop robust demand management processes and tools
  • The ability to drive robust central demand management, making the demand forecast process both effective and efficient for the category team and CP organisation
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Primary and secondary research skills.
  • Knowledge of Contracting & Procurement (SCM) processes
  • Agility with IT , numbers and spreadsheets.
  • Significant expertise using modelling tools such as Excel
  • The ability to communicate effectively at all levels across disciplines
  • A proactive approach with strong team working skills.
