The chosen hydraulic design engineer will be offered a lucrative salary package and will be based in Houston, US. (Please see below for further details)
The main tasks include:
Perform engineering duties in planning and designing oilfield equipment, oversee installation, operation, maintenance and repair of oilfield equipment in factories, shipyards, offshore installations and rigs.
Engineering design, documentation, testing and technical support of both field installation and manufacturing issues in the areas of hydraulic/pneumatic systems and components on engineered oilfield equipment.
Primary design responsibility for hydraulic, electric and pneumatic systems used in offshore oilfield equipment.
Selection responsibility for all purchased hydraulic and pneumatic components (ie cylinders, valves, pumps, etc.).
Providing technical interface with external hydraulic and pneumatic components suppliers and with the Company’s internal Supply Chain Management function.
Writing technical reports to include Commissioning and Installation procedures, as well as Operation & Maintenance Manuals.
Oversee and develop hydraulic and/or pneumatic systems and component tests and test procedures.
Oversee the activities of assigned drafting staff in the creation of drawings and Bills of Material to support design responsibility.
Actively champion design improvements that promote increases in reliability or decreases in either manufacturing cost or operating cost.
Provide technical support to manufacturing and final assembly as it relates to hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
Provide technical support to Product Support and Customers.
Oversee failure analysis of hydraulic and pneumatic components.
Provide technical support to our Technical Publications area in the way of documentation, assistance in writing maintenance manuals and assistance in writing Product Information Bulletins.
Provide cost information, time assessments and estimates to allow for quotations to be generated.
Other tasks as assigned by management.
Candidate Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in mechanical engineering
Flexibility - the right candidate will have to travel from time to time
A minimum of 10 years related experience in hydraulic systems design, preferably in Offshore, Oil & Gas Drilling Equipment.
Understanding of hydraulic systems along with electrical interfaces
Ability to solve problems until resolution
Strong technical decision making capability
Proficient in Autocad
Certified Fluid Power Engineer credentials and computer aided hydraulic systems modeling experience would be a bonus
