Member Service Representative (Teller)

Primary Role:

Process financial transactions efficiently, accurately, and with the highest level of customer service. Continually build relationships with members in order to retain and enhance Credit Union memberships.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

· Receive and process financial transactions, including deposits, withdrawals and loan payments; sell money orders and traveler’s checks to members.

· Analyze member’s financial needs and effectively cross-sell products and services through referrals to Financial Service Representatives.

· Ensure accuracy in all transactions and follow all established cash-handling procedures and balancing requirements.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Confidence in handling large amounts of cash and negotiables with accuracy and efficiency
• Ability to multi-task while performing detailed banking transactions
• Initiative to learn and understand the products and services available to members
• Strong sales skills
• Excellent communication skills required to effectively resolve member issues with patience, empathy, and tact
• 10-key calculator and computer keyboard by touch

Education and/or Experience:

• Prior Credit Union, retail banking, or other financial institution experience a strong plus
• At least one year cash handling experience required; 2 years or more strongly preferred
• At least one year customer service experience required; 2 years or more strongly preferred
• High School Diploma or equivalency
