Gannett seeks a new top editor for its national weekly magazine, USA WEEKEND. This executive leadership position requires an individual with high journalism credentials, solid business acumen, and finely honed leadership skills. Must demonstrate an understanding of the evolving future of the news and information business, both digital and print. The ideal candidate will have experience in newspapers, magazines, and new-product development. Understands and balances editorial integrity with business imperatives, working in partnership with USA WEEKEND’s executive team, embracing initiatives and fostering cooperation across all entities and platforms.Responsibilities:Uphold the highest journalism standards.
# Drive innovation at all levels and champion change.
# Organize, manage and lead the editorial development of a nationally distributed magazine
# Identify, develop and manage top editorial talent, including freelancers.
# Leverage resources both internal and external.
# Leverage the USA WEEKEND brand.
# Foster partnerships with newspaper editors and publishers nationwide.
# Manage the editorial budget.Qualifications:
# 10-15 years experience in newspaper and/or magazine journalism with strong ethics
# Proven ability to motivate and inspire an editorial team
# Excellent organizational, strategic and business skills
