Shell’s facilities in Canada encompass operations in each of Alberta’s three main oil sands deposits, an upgrader, four natural gas processing plants, a chemical manufacturing plant, three refineries, 2 lubricant plants, 19 distribution terminals, and more than 1,600 retail stations across the country. Shell Canada is currently seeking operators for facilities in the Edson, Fox Creek, and Whitecourt areas. Work shifts are based on a ten hour day, working a 8/6 schedule (work 8 days in a row, with 6 days off).
Responsibilities:
To perform duties associated with the daily operation of the production fields and associated equipment, ensuring that optimum performance is achieved while all safety and environmental standards are met, including:
- Ensure that all Field Operations comply with Shell Environmental Standards and the Standards spelled out in ISO 14001.
- Maximize production volumes and profitability in your area of responsibility.
- Accountable for Operating costs in their area, reviewing invoicing and following up on invoicing issues.
- Responsible for operating inlet separators, gas compressors and engines, glycol dehydrators, refrigeration plants, and gas and oil wells.
- Expected to accurately record daily production data, including opening/closing inventories, fuel gas readings, trucking tickets, etc.
Troubleshoot and operate compressor stations in applicable fields when operating conditions require.
Requirements:
- Must have legal authorization to work in Canada on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer.
- Must be able to work 10 hour shifts, and be able to respond at any time (day or night) while on shift.
- Candidate must possess at least a Grade 12 diploma or equivalent.
- Applicants must be willing to work and relocate to the area if not a resident.
- Applicants must have at least 2 years of relevant industrial experience, with at least 1 year Oil & Gas experience.
- Candidate must possess a valid Class 5 Driver’s license.
- Candidate must demonstrate proficiency with industrial safety standards such as Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS), Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG), First Aid, and Hydrogen Gas (H2S).
