This exciting position within Merck Global Structural Biology at the West Point, PA site will enable drug lead discovery and optimization through the production and characterization of proteins for use in structural biology and screening. The incumbent will perform protein purification and characterization of recombinant proteins in prokaryotic and eukaryotic hosts and emphasize continuing improvement in efficient production of target proteins for structural biology and high-throughput screening.
Qualifications
Education Requirement:
BS in Biochemistry or related discipline with 4+ years experience
MS in Biochemistry or related discipline with 3+ years experience
Required:
* Demonstrated success with the isolation and characterization (e.g., electrophoresis, mass spectrometry) of proteins from both eukaryotic and prokaryotic sources using state-of-the-art purification and analysis methods.
* Excellent communication skills (written, presentation, and oral).
* Ability to work in a matrix environment within timelines.
Desired:
* Experience with crystallography is a plus.
* Experience in the application of biophysical characterization methods (e.g., protein NMR, Biacore, Thermoflor) or functional properties (e.g., enzyme kinetics) is a plus.
* Knowledge of molecular biology, structural biology or HTS is a plus.
* Industry experience is a plus.
