Primary Role

This position is responsible for operating and maintaining water and wastewater treatment plants in the Harrisburg, Pennsylvania area.

Key Accountabilities

-Duties will include but are not limited to performing critical testing of facility operations, such as pH, dissolved oxygen, and chlorine in order to monitor system condition.
-Keep complete accurate, legible records of all phases of facility operations.
-Prepare monthly written operating reports based on facility’s operation and/or maintenance records for the client, employer or regulatory agency
-Convey plant problems, expansions and repairs in a timely manner
-Work conscientiously and be aware of safety hazards.
-Collect required samples, log in samples accurately and submit samples to laboratory to ensure permit compliance.
-Operate plants to meet all regulatory guidelines
-Assist maintenance with pump, blower, motor, valve, etc.
-May be required to carry a beeper to respond to situations when they arise.
-May work scheduled weekends and occasional holidays for assigned route.

-Strong electrical and mechanical experience.
-Mathematical ability at the high school graduate level.
-Professional demeanor.
-Demonstrate good character, positive attitude, reliability and honesty.
-Ability to work with others.
-Ability to follow company policies, schedules, procedures, etc.
-Ability to compile and interpret data.
-Ability to communicate effectively with clients and company personnel and regulatory personnel.

-Ability to determine odors and distinguish colors.
-Ability to lift 75 lbs.
-Ability to foresee mechanical equipment failure.
-Ability to develop and follow a time schedule for assignments.
-Ability to work in an efficient and safe manner.

Knowledge

Valid drivers license with good driving record.
Valid PA DEP water and/or wastewater licenses preferred.
