Job Title:COMMUNITY RELATIONS SPECIALIST

Primary Purpose of Position:
To coordinate contributions and related social investment activities in the community to include community grants, asset donations and the company’s involvement in fund raising events and activities.
Major Responsibilities:
- Review and respond to requests made of the company from the headquarters community - grants, asset donations, dues and memberships and sponsorships.
- Develop and coordinate the company’s community social investment strategy in the community.
- Coordinate and support senior management’s company sponsored board involvement and volunteer participation in local community organizations and events.
- Represent the company with key grant recipients and related
community groups.
- Evaluate contributions and social investments made in the
local community.
Major Customers:
-Business Teams
-Executive Leadership Team and Broader Employee Base
- Internal Communications and HR
- Local community leaders, major nonprofit organizations and grant recipients.
- Local corporate and private foundation grant makers.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Community relations and issues management
- Nonprofit organization, management and financing.
- Volunteer coordination, planning and mobilization.
- Program and project planning and implementation.
- Communications.
- Consensus and team building.
- Company operations in the community.
- Advanced capabilities in managing budgets and financials via Excel and other tools
- Experience in creating and presenting reports to executive teams
Education:
· Bachelor’s degree or higher
Experience:
· 6 or more years of experience in Community Relations/volunteer management, or 4 years experience in human resources plus 2-4 years related community relations activities.
· An understanding of the relationship of community and nonprofit issues.
· Demonstrated effectiveness in planning, program development and project management of a Corporate Social Responsibility program .
· Strong interpersonal and communications skills and an ability to represent the company with beneficiary organizations.
· The ability to work with employees and senior management volunteers.
· A team player and ability to effectively manage multiple functions delegate and be accountable for department and staff goals.
· Knowledge of nonprofit management and volunteer training.
· Other Job related requirements:
- Travel required to Various VRSN sites globally.
- Travel required to organizational headquarters for cooperative planning and volunteer execution.
- Presentation to employee base required
- Ability to travel internationally, including ability to obtain visas required
