Shell Canada is currently seeking operators at the Orion facility.

* The Orion project is a thermal in situ production operation located approximately 30 kilometres northwest of Cold Lake in northern Alberta. The Orion Project uses Steam Assisted Gravity Drainage (SAGD) technology to recover bitumen.  The overall project includes a central processing facility, water treatment system, steam generation and multiple SAGD well pads.

Responsibilities:

Working in a participative environment as part of a 5 person team, you will be accountable for the safe, efficient and environmentally responsible operation of the unit(s) that you will be trained to operate. You will be responsible for reporting equipment operating and following direction from the Shift Team Leader. Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

* monitoring conditions of all equipment within the unit you are trained
* working closely with maintenance and contractors ensuring permits and equipment isolation(s) conform to Shell business processes
* performing minor maintenance
* troubleshooting unit malfunctions
* correcting, and/or reporting potential failures or equipment malfunctions.
* entering work requests to support our facility work processes

As an Operating Team Technician you will progress through the following facility units as determined by the operations competency assurance system:

* Field (Wells and Gathering System)
* Process Area
* Utilities (Conventional Boilers, and Water treatment-Evaporators), and
* Control Room.
Requirements:

* Must have legal authorization to work in Canada on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer.
* Candidate must possess at least a Grade 12 diploma or equivalent. 3rd Class Steam Ticket required, 2nd Class Steam Tickets are preferred. Trade Certificates are an asset.
* Applicants must be willing to work in Cold Lake and relocate to the area if not a resident.
* Applicants must have at least 3 years of relevant industrial experience. Oil & Gas experience an asset.
* Candidate must possess a valid Class 5 Driver’s license.
