Location: Fort Saskatchewan and Area, Alberta, Canada
Shell Canada is currently seeking an Accounting Analyst for their Scotford location
Responsibilities:
- General Accountabilities
- This position has three main responsibilities: support day to day processing of basic accounts payable; research and resolve complex accounts payable issues; and completing certain monthly account reconciliations for some Upgrader accounts.
- With respect to basic and complex accounts payable activities:
- Verify invoices have the correct information (eg, sufficient funds, correct company name, valid purchase order number); route invoices for approval.
- Track invoices on tracking sheet.
- Process invoices for payment, as required.
- Coordinate invoice processing with head office.
- Work closely with the Contracting and Procurement department and warehouse to ensure purchase orders are updated as required in order to process invoices.
- Receive, route and respond as appropriate, to day to day incoming faxes and e-mails.
- Archive old packing slips, batch reports.
- Provide information to external suppliers, internal clients with respect to outstanding and payment information as required.
- Review statements and follow up with vendors on any old outstanding invoices.
- Investigate accounts payable issues as required.
- Proactively identifies and resolves issues in a diplomatic and respectful manner; challenge others as appropriate.
- Capable of overcoming obstacles to ensure timely resolution of issues.
- Ad hoc projects.
- Occasional opening and sorting of mail.
- Occasional filing.
- With respect to account reconciliations:
- Identify, investigate and resolve issues on time and in accordance with Shell policy.
Requirements:
- Must have legal authorization to work in Canada on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer
- Good time management and organizational skills.
- Detail oriented and attention to accuracy.
- Customer service oriented.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills. Comfortable working with other departments.
- Works well independently but also in a team environment.
- Working knowledge of MS Office, particularly Excel.
- Understanding of basic accounting concepts (eg, balance sheet accounts, expense accounts, etc.) is an asset.
- Working knowledge of JD Edwards accounting software is an asset.
- Previous experience with accounts payable processing and account reconciliations within a large and complex organization is an asset.
